This graphic novel ate a friend's work day yesterday so she kindly lent it to me today. On the first sweltering day of summer, it was the perfect companion for a hangover.
Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel is a memoir of her closeted father and a kind of literary detective story deciphering the mystery of his life and death through Camus, Proust, and Joyce. It was named best book of the year by Time Magazine. An incredibly rich read.

This book looks good. Maybe I'll pick up a copy. I'd like to read Persepolis as well. We have Watchmen at home but I haven't finished it yet.
ReplyDeleteCool! B always has a bunch of graphic novels around the house - they are good summer reading.
